Archery begins today at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The first seventy-two arrows are those that make up the men's ranking round, shots that determine the pairings for both the team and individual head-to-head matches.
Taking centre stage at the Sambadrome in Rio was the Korean Woojin Kim who came first, beating the World and Olympic record: 700 points, one more than the previous record. In second place with 690 points is the American Brady Ellison, but it is the third place of David Pasqualucci which is outstanding. The youngest of the Italian trio, he is in the running thanks to an almost flawless second half of the competition, finishing on 319 points.
With 671 points Mauro Nespoli concludes the archery ranking round in sixteenth place while Marco Galiazzo settles for forty-seventh position with 651 points.
With the totals added together for the team classification, Italy claims third position in the ranking round with 2007 points, only trailing South Korea, first with 2057 points, and the United States finishing with 2024 points.
