At the end of the Eight Nations tournament in Bor, head coach Sandro Campagna announced the thirteen water polo players who will represent the Settebello, Olympic runners-up, at the Rio de Janeiro Games. Out of the 16 players called up for Serbia, those no longer taking part in the preparation are Tommaso Busilacchi (BPM Sport Management), Vincenzo Renzuto Iodice (Robertozeno Posillipo) and Goran Volarevic (Carpisa Yamamay Acquachiara).
Men's team for the Olympics: Stefano Tempesti (Pro Recco) and Marco Del Lungo (AN Brescia); Nicholas Presciutti (AN Brescia), Alessandro Velotto (CC Napoli) and Niccolo Gitto (Pro Recco); Pietro Figlioli, Andrea Fondelli and Francesco Di Fulvio (Pro Recco), Valentino Gallo (Robertozeno Posillipo), Alessandro Nora and Christian Presciutti (AN Brescia); Matteo Aicardi and Michael Bodegas (Pro Recco).
Head coach Campagna states: "The selection was the toughest ever both due to the importance of the Olympics and the level of the players. We are a competitive team despite seven debutantes at the Games".
