Based on ranking, the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) has assigned a new national place to Italy in the full competition at the next 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro. The Italian team had already qualified in this speciality with three riders, and with this fourth person they can avail themselves of the possibility of excluding one result from the final team ranking.  

There will therefore be six duos in Rio involved in the equestrian sport competition, with single Olympic cards already acquired in the obstacle race and dressage. The Italian Federation for Equestrian Sports, together with CONI’s Olympic Preparation Committee, will specify to whom the six Nation places will be assigned. The Italian athletes who are certain to participate in Rio 2016 have gone up to 266 (140 men, 126 women) in 27 different disciplines, with 135 individual passes.
