Biography
At 41 years old, and following his appearances at Athens, Beijing and London, Stafano is ready for his fourth Olympic Games. He began participating under the leadership of Piero d'Inzeo who, with his brother Raimondo, helped write Italian equestrian history. Following show jumping he moved on to three-day eventing, a highly trained discipline that has allowed him to stay connected to the countryside. His other great passion is music (he is also passionate about football). A multiple Italian champion, he was part of the team that won Italy a historic Silver medal in 2009 at the European Championships in Fontainebleau. Along with his wife, the horsewoman Francesca Simoncini, he runs a horse training centre in Magliano Sabina. However, following the advice of the legendary Andrew Nicholson, he is hoping to improve on his 19th place at London in 2012.
