She was advised to take up athletics by her elementary school teacher and immediately displayed interesting qualities - so much so that she ran the 400m in the Junior European Cup, despite still being a cadet. She was a member of the indoor and outdoor 4x400 relay Italian record-breaking team and, with her foursome teammates, put on a good show at the Mediterranean Games 2013, after nearly making the podium at the European Championships in Barcelona and the indoor European Games in Paris. She likes looking after animals, and has been married for the past two years to Christian Pompa, former 800m, 1500m and 3000m steeplechase athlete.
