This athlete from Bergamo is acknowledged to be one of the most promising Italian race walkers, especially in the light of the good results achieved in the youth team. Recruited by the Carabinieri in 2007, indeed two years after he received a bronze medal in the 20 km competition in the European Athletics Under-23 Championships, his second international medal after the silver medal won at the European Athletics Junior Championships. He has also proven to be very capable in the 50 km, witnessed when he took the Italian junior record in this distance, literally demolishing the previous record. However, this Italian athlete is also good with books: he is in fact a university graduate in Sports Science at the “San Raffaele” University in Rome, with a dissertation on “the training requirements of a top-level race walker”.
