Aged 25, but with a wealth of victories under his belt. The freestyle swimmer from Milan established himself at a junior level one medal after the other, both individually and as part of relay competitions: three gold medals between European and World Junior Championships, together with several other placements on the podium. Once in the over-18 group, he continued with a series of excellent results, including an individual bronze in the 100m freestyle and three relay medals, all won in the last two European Games. He has been engaged for a while to his colleague Martina Carraro, with whom he moved to Bologna in 2012 to achieve better sporting performances. Given the fact that he is astigmatic and does not use lenses in the pool, he has admitted to always finding it difficult to understand whether he has won or lost at the end of each competition.
