She held a racket in her hands for the first time when she was seven, driven to embrace tennis by her parents Alois and Marianne. Two heart and three knee operations have slowed her career and, thanks to her forehand shot, she made her name known in two WTA tournaments in Tashkent and Nurnberg, reaching 33rd world ranking in August 2015, her highest place in the list. She always has a good feeling about competing for Italy, as shown by the triumph at FedCup in 2013, in which she played a double together with Flavia Pennetta in the final with Russia. She speaks German, Italian and English, and, when away from the court, she likes listening to music, watching films and skiing, which she practices each time she goes back to Trentino. That aside, she lives and trains in Anzio, with her partner and coach, Francesco Piccari. For her, indeed, tennis is a matter of the heart.
