He started off as a middle-distance runner and was then able to evolve in the sporting world by moving on to marathon racing, a change that has rewarded him with the qualification for the Rio Olympics. Together with Daniele Meucci and Ruggero Pertile, he will form the Italian trio that has a real chance of obtaining excellent results in Brazil. His passion for athletics, which he has had since he was a schoolboy thanks to the Youth Games, has led him to win various Italian championships and a bronze medal in the 5,000 meters at the World University Games in Shenzhen (China). At his first attempt in the 42km he amazed everyone with his incredible exploit, and he then confirmed his talent in the subsequent events, quickly rising to the top levels of his discipline.
