Biography
Despite a virus derailing his year, he remains the man of the relays. At the European Short Course Championships in Netanya 2015, he won three golds and two silvers; at the long course in London 2016, he failed to show what he is capable of due to the virus that severely weakened him. He aims to redeem himself in Rio. When possible, he enjoys playing beach volleyball and five-a-side football, and there was no alternative than to nickname him "the Bomber of Budrio" (the same town as tennis player Simone Bolelli). The 25-year-old Italian team member supports Bologna, and perhaps it is no coincidence that he lives a few steps from the Dall'Ara stadium. As with any good Emilia citizen, his other passion is "tortellini" pasta, as seen by the tattoo in the area near his swimming costume and the pendant that he wears. His mum, Mara, is already at the stove, just in case he were to bring back a medal from Brazil.
