He holds several records, including being the first Italian after Panatta to win two consecutive tournaments, the first Italian after Panatta and Barazzuti to finish for two consecutive years among the top 20 in the rankings, and the only tennis player capable of defeating Rafael Nadal on clay twice in a row. Son of a housewife and entrepreneur, he had a very promising start to his career, showing a talent that has long been missing in the Italian panorama. Last year he managed to establish himself at the Australian Open in 2015, paired with Simone Bolelli. He confesses that he has always been a great Inter fan and, when he can, he plays football with friends as a midfielder, scoring and assisting in scoring. Off the field, however, he talks of his romance with ex “colleague”, Flavia Pennetta.
