Biography
His bronze at the London 2012 is the last of the Olympic medals won by the Italian athletics team and, at almost 40, he comes to Rio to defend it. The athlete from Frosinone is a very human kind of cyborg who, when challenged by misfortune and injuries, has always been able to pick himself up. Maybe it is also for this reason that he achieved the most important results as a mature athlete: a European gold in Helsinki 2012 and an indoor gold in Turin 2009, a very long list of Italian achievements and two Italian records, indoor and outdoor, in the triple jump. With a passion for music and internet, he lives in Ostia with his wife Patrizia Spuri (Italian record holder in the 400m race) and daughters Greta and Viola. However, he wants to compete in his fifth Olympic Games before retiring because his rivals change but he never gives up. A Highlander!
