Biography
She is the mother of Italian athletics. After the birth of her second child (her first born Elena’s brother Simone), in 2015 she returned to race walking the streets of Beijing, where, seven years ago, she won the Olympic bronze in the 20k race walk. After a number of experiences in Alpine skiing competitions and cross-country racing, she chose race walking soon becoming the second race walker with most wins in the history of national championships and her prize record also includes a bronze won at the World Championships in Daegu in 2011 and another won at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006. Piedmontese (and a Juventus fan), she defines herself as a “working-athlete-mother” and, at 36, she’s living her third sporting life dividing herself between her children, training and racing events. “With a little common sense and organization you can get everything done”, she claims. Even Olympic Games.
