Biography
He is 37 years old, but don't tell him to step aside. Fencing (and the sabre) is in the DNA of his family. Eighty years after his grandfather Aldo first took part in the Olympic Games (but also his father Mario Aldo and three of his cousins took part in various editions of the Games), and twelve years after the individual gold and the team silver won in Athens (followed then by two team bronzes he gained in Beijing and London), the Italian athlete wants to live his fourth Olympic dream. For the first time he attends the Games without his team (it is not on the program), but his resolve is the same: “I want to give something more to Italy”. A lover of powerboating, with an experience in the world of football (following the trail of his uncle Armando Picchi) he is often at the centre of celebrity news. Despite his new flame - Russian athlete Olga Plachina -, “the Beef” in Rio is thinking only of the podium. There is still time for his father's shipyard in Livorno.
