The customs officer from Veneto will compete in Rio in the 400m race, after having established the new Italian record for completing the full track at Rieti's Over 18 event, setting the record for a speciality for which it had not budged for 10 years. Having discovered athletics thanks to school championships, he obtained the first important and prestigious result at the Under 18 World championships in Morocco, winning the 200m bronze, followed, five years later, by the European indoor gold in the 4X400m relay race and by the 200m silver medal at the Mediterranean Games. Having changed onto 400m races, he took centre stage once more in 2013, winning two competitions (400m and 4x400) at the Mersin Mediterranean Games. New and modern technologies enthusiast, he moved back to training in Rieti with his fiancée and colleague Maria Benedicta Chigbolu, after around two years spent in Florida, in Bradenton.
