Biography
A veteran of Italian cycle racing, as well as one of the athletes with the greatest achievements in the Italian cycling panorama, she has announced her retirement after the World Championships to be held in Qatar this coming October. In the course of her professional career, which began in 2003, she has been able to collect important achievements both on road and on track, relying on her unbeatable sprinter qualities, but also on other types of terrain. Her proudest moments in her sporting career are, undoubtedly, the two victories at the 2010 and 2011 road cycling World Championships in the Elite class and the three medals in track cycle racing – one gold and two bronze medals – in the points race. This is her third Olympic competition and, in Rio, she will do her best to improve her fifth place gained at London 2012.
